Caryn Carter Gomar

Caryn Carter Gomar is originally from Kansas City. She attended the American University in Washington D.C. where she earned a Bachelors in Law and Society with a minor in Spanish. She returned to Kansas to attend the University of Kansas where she earned her Juris Doctorate Degree. After graduation, Caryn began her adventures in Texas with her move to El Paso.

Caryn worked at the County Attorney’s Office in El Paso for two years where she worked on Protective Order and CPS cases. This is where her passion for helping families began. After El Paso, Caryn moved to Dallas where she worked for Legal Aid in the family law section and then moved into private practice. Covid brought Caryn to Houston in 2020 and she has been a part of the Nwaogu Law Firm since it’s start.

Caryn enjoys helping people navigate the changes that come when life doesn’t go the way they expected. Having children while going through a divorce herself, she knows the challenges people face in figuring out a new plan for their lives and in navigating changing relationships. She wants to ensure that her clients’ relationships with former partners stay respectful and collaborative, wherever possible, especially when children are involved. Caryn believes in the adage that just because a relationship is over, doesn’t mean it was a failure and she works with clients to build a good foundation for their future.
At the same time, Caryn understands that not all relationships are salvageable, and she works hard in her high-conflict cases to make the safety of her clients, and their families a priority. Caryn has many years of dealing with cases where family violence, abuse, and neglect have been serious issues and she has a record of success in getting her clients the protection they need from the courts in those cases.
When not in the office, Caryn enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She relaxes with cooking, making cocktails, reading, and spending time outdoors. She is a Lego and puzzle obsessive and is a sucker for animals of all kinds, including her menagerie of pets.
